“Success! Such a magical word like gold or love or Shangri-la, it conjures up different but always enticing visions in the minds of all of us”. A beuatiful quote by Og Mandino.
Indeed the word success has its own magical sense within itself. In the mind of each individual the vision created by the word is as different as the mind that creates it. No two minds think or dream just alike.
First: Define what success is to you, and be very specific about what or where it is. What does it feel like? Where is it located? What does it smell like? Can you see it or feel it? Never mind what other people think success should be, it is your success that we are concerned with here. Is you idea of success financial freedom? Is it owning your own business? Is it being in the top field of your chosen career? Or is it something as humble and loving as being the best parent that you can be for the benefit of your childs future?
As defined by Earl Nightingale, “Success is the progressive realization of a worthy idea”. A successful person is anyone who is doing a predetermined worthy thing because that is what they wanted to do. So be very certain that the success that you want to achieve is based on something that you really want to do.
Second: Believe in yourself! It all starts or stops with your belief in yourself as to whether or not you can accomplish the desires of you heart. Trust in yourself, have faith and create the mindset of self belief that will not be denied the achievement of your dreams. If you can vision it and dream it but you can’t belief it then you will never achive it, so believe in yourself that you can do it and do whatever it takes to acieve it.
How do you know whether or not you can do this particular thing that you want to do? Well you could just ask yourself a couple of questions to get the answer. Such as, can it be done? Has it been done or is it being done by others that you know about? If it has been done and is being done by others then the answer is emphatically yes you can do it and you should do it!
Your success depends mainly upon what you think of yourself, your self image and whether or not you believe in yourself. “You can succeed if nobody else believes it, but you will never succeed if you don’t believe in yourself”. – William J.H. Boetcker
Never accept defeat, always have faith that you can do anything you set your mind to. Use biblical quotes to help you in the spirit of belief. One of my favorites is Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things thorugh Jesus Christ who strengthens me”. I suggest that you find something that inspires your spirit to have faith and belief in yourself.
Third: Have a positive mental attitude! Having a great attitude can determine how well you can do the things you need to do to achieve your dreams and goals that will ultimately place you into the realm of success that you desire. The things that happen to you through out your journey to success, whether they be good or bad, aren’t near as important as your attitude is about what’s happening.
You can rest assured that if you endeavor to do a thing, you are going to meet up with some setbacks, obstacles or hurdles that you are going to have to work through. Your attitude will determine how well you respond and are able to overcome these problems and become victorious in achieving your goals. The best thing for you to do is to view these problems as hidden opportunities for improving your wisdom, stature and experience. Each time you overcome and conquer a problem with a positive mental attitued, you become a bigger, better, more successful person.
” Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goals; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude”. – Thomas Jefferson
I know that it takes more than the three things I have discussed here to achieve great success, but I believe that mastering these three things is necessary to move you forward on your journey to that end. We will talk more about some other things you need to do in the near future.
Until then I wish you Great Success.
” A great attitude is not the result of success, success is the result of a great attitude”. – Earl Nightingale
